One of the things I like most about pastoring and being a part of a Friends Church is that we allow space on Sunday mornings during Open Worship to let everyone have the opportunity to minister. Often, like the last few Sundays, this time is very rich and meaningful on many different levels, as people obediently respond to the movement of the Holy Spirit.
I especially enjoy when other thoughts and insights are added to the Scripture text that I have already shared on during the sermon time because it reminds me that Christ is the Present Teacher and all of us have the ability to hear His voice. Yesterday we read 1 Corinthians 13 and I shared a few thoughts about love as it pertains to wholeness in Christ. During Open Worship someone shared their experience that morning of how God interacted with them while this Scripture was being read and expounded on. Here is part of what was shared …
God is Love
God is patient, God is kind.
God does not envy, God does not boast, God is not proud.
God is not rude, God is not self-seeking, God is not easily angered, God keeps no record of wrongs.
God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
God always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
God never fails.
