Our Advent theme this week is Joy.
I just finished watching a flash mob you tube video that was posted on our church facebook group in which a group of people sang Christ centered Christmas songs in a busy shopping mall. Joy!
This morning someone told me she believed that God wanted her to work with Samuel this year. Joy!
Yesterday during music practice we were listening to the song Celebration by Kool and The Gang, while speculating about whether or not it would be appropriate to play for Meeting for Worship. Joy!
Heidi and I were able to spend time visiting with a good friend yesterday. Joy!
In the dictionary joy is defined as “a very glad feeling; happiness; delight.”
What gives us joy? Where does our joy come from?
Scripture has several thoughts on joy. In preparation for our time together on Sunday morning feel free to read the following Scripture passages while sincerely considering the words you read.
John 15:1-11 (10-11) What must happen in order for our joy to be complete?
Luke 2:8-11 Why was Jesus’ birth good news of great joy?
Galatians 5:22 What does it mean that there is no law against the fruits of the Spirit?
1 Thessalonians 1:6 Who is joy given by?
James 1:2 Is this hard or easy to do?
