This Sunday is the fourth week of Advent as we prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the birth of Christ, and worship our risen King. Our theme this week is peace.
This week we are going to focus on the peace for or in our souls that comes from knowing and following Jesus. The peace that we live out in our lives on a daily basis flows from the inner peace we have because of Jesus in our lives. This inner peace that Jesus gives prompts us to live, act, and be a certain way, a way that closely resembles the life that Jesus modeled for us during His time here on earth.
I haven’t narrowed down a specific passage of Scripture yet to use for our time together on Sunday morning. If you would like to prepare for Meeting for Worship by read Scripture passages related to peace please consider the following options:
Philippians 4:1, 4-7
There are many symbols for peace including the dove and the peace sign, but I wonder what symbols, metaphors, or reminders of peace are in our lives? Are there things that symbolize peace to you? I will be sharing one such example from my life on Sunday, and perhaps you might be prompted to share an example during Open Worship.
If I don’t talk to you personally between now and Christmas, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a blessed time with family and friends.
